Paper Collage: Coats of Arms
My collage series explores ideas of repair, reconstruction, identity, and memory. My recovery after brain surgery and work with children and brain development/function influences this series as I take apart, layer, and reconstruct my own paintings and found children’s’ paper into new works of meaning. My memory and nostalgia challenge my lived experiences represented through these colorful collages and there is both a tension and balance found throughout each piece.
